New apartments

In the upcoming school year we will take in use new student housing at Skógarvegur 18 -22. Skógarvegur is located in Fossvogur. This is a grown neighborhood, short distance both to stores and services.  Buses stop close by and a bicycle path leads through and all the way to the University grounds. There will be three new buildings with 80 spacious students’ family apartments and they are divided in 1 bedrooms apartments (60 m2) and 2 bedrooms apartments (72m2).

 

When applying for apartment in Skógavegur choose family apartments on the application form on the website, 2 rooms or 3 rooms (in Iceland, living room counted amongst the rooms in the apartment).

 

Further information about the apartments will be placed on our website in the next couple of days.

Student apartments in Garđabćr

Student housing rents out 14 apartments on behalf of Garđabćr. Those apartments are in Arnarás 9-11 in Garđabćr.  All university students can apply, but students having legal residence (lögheimili) in Garđabćr have priority for those apartments.

 

There are 4 studio apartments 45,5 m2, rent per month 67.002 ISK and heat 2.131 ISK, 6 two room apartments 54,2 m2,rent per month 75.853 ISK and heat 2.414 ISK, and 4 three room apartments 71,5 m2,rent per month 90.765ISK and heat 3.005 ISK.

 

Rental price changes every month according to the consumer index, shown here as if was the 1st of February 2009, consumer index then 334,8 points.

 

 
Locksmith

Residents who need emergency lock smith assistance are asked to contact the Lásaţjónustan, tel. 800-5858 or 894-5858.  Everyone who asks for their assistance needs to prove that they have the use of that apartment.  The service can be paid by card or cash but it must be paid on the spot.  The fee is;

                       Days. 8.00-18.00 = 3500kr

 

Study progress

According to the assignment rules, each tenant must finish a least 20 credits (40 ECTS) during the school year (fall and spring semester combined).  There of at least 6 credits (12 ECTS) in the fall semester to keep an apartment/room in Student Housing.  After fall and spring exams the office of Student Housing checks the study progress to see if tenants fulfill the minimum credits.  Tenants are advised to reed the assignment rules on the Student Housing website, under application, rules.
